Sailung (3200m) & Phulchoki Hill Trekking
This is a non-tourist area and less crowded, but a very splendid one. This trek takes you to Thulo Sailung (3200 m), its highest elevation, from where you will see a vast Himalayan range from Makalu to Dhaulagiri. In additional, this is the only trek from where you will have a glimpse of Tarai - the lowland of Nepal as well as the world's highest - Mt. Everest (8848 m).While trekking in this area, we walk high up on spectacular ridges in an area inhabited by Tamangs - an indigenous Buddhists community whose religion is a fusion of Buddhist Lamaism and the Shamanist Bon culture. It is common for a village to have a Lama and a Jhankri (Shaman). Except Tamang, you will have encountered with different ethnic people and experience about socio-economic situation, life-style, and their professions. Moreover, the main attraction of this area is, it gives a wide range of exploration to the trekkers. The itinerary can be short and long.
Phulchoki (2791m)
Sailung and Timal then plus Phulchoki is very nice trekking we found in research and already offer some trip and got good response from our clients so we recommend to make Phulchoki which is a 2,791 m. high hill and a good hiking spot as it offers a spectacular view of the whole Kathmandu Valley and lovely Himalayan Ranges. Rhododendrons of different colors are found here including pure white and dark red varieties. After come down to Godavari we end our trek. Godavari this scenic village is situated ten kilometers south-east of Patan city. The road from Patan city runs to Godavari passing through the towns of Harisiddhi, Thaiba and Badegaon. Sailung - Timal and Phulchoki Trekking View from Clients
- When putting on trekking shoes becomes a highlight -
We had a 15 days trip called the "Sailung " trek in the east of Kathmandu. The second day of our trek we walked up to Sailung hill. It was one of the highlights of our trek. From there we had a great view on the Himalaya Mountains. The night was quite cold but the sunrise in the morning was really amazing. In the following days we felt happy to travel in a Non Touristic Area so we could enjoy untouched nature and passed through lovely small farmers villages so for example on our 4th day from Dhormba Gompa to Gurase Bhanjyang on this day we had wonderful walk and our place for lunch was next to a refreshing waterfall.
Another big highlight was our trip to Bholung village the homestead of our crewmembers. There we have invited by some of them to visit their homes and had the opportunity to meet their families. We enjoyed the rest day in their village and evening staying together with them. Our route after leaving from Bholung, we collected many more impressions so on our way to Chapkhore. It was really hard work for our muscles that day because we had to walk uphill nearly four to five hours but we had a nice lunch break beside a small river where we could refresh our feet in the cold water. During the whole trek we had several times the opportunity to visit wonderful stupas, temples and small monasteries. All in all we enjoyed this trek very much.
Due to the fact that this was a mostly Non touristic trek we had the possibility to come in contact with only native people who weren't used to tourism and therefore they were very open minded and friendly. Sometimes they just joined our trip for about half an hour but most of the time of our trek we walked of our own only with our crew so we could enjoy and relax. In the evenings the dinning tent becomes singing, dancing and Nepali teaching tent. We could highly recommend this trip, even for non trained people.
